What a fantastic film.

The Evil Within aka Inception of a Nightmare on the Hills Have Eyes through Mirrors does something within its machinations to raise the entire feature above the rest of the smoky underground scene. That is not to say it is the best UGH (Underground Horror) of 2017 but Within definitely manages to make the viewer shift in the chair or pause to get a can of soda from the fridge, just to clear the head.

The film is an absolute fucked up acid trip gone superbad; Victorian mirror infinity; child prodigy, dream within a nightmare; Frederick Koehler‘s supreme, chilling portrait of Dennis the Menace (of the very evil kind); swinging mirrors, Michael Berryman; Matthew McGrory; BAM, Brianna Brown as Susan bearing all after an incident of the Meet Joe Black, 1998 variety. Bam again, Dina Meyer almost bearing all but Dennis wants fucking caramel fudge ice-cream and finally a Dahmer moment that made this sinner man turn his eyes away from the screen.

One word: Flushed out.
That’s two words.
When someone has a fire extinguisher stuck up his/her cerebellum to jet out all the blood from an almost dead person, it doesn’t matter; the number of words that is.

Mirror swings again and so does the reality, which is completely subjective throughout the 1 h 38 m run-time, which is replete with so many shadows lurking in the corners they might as well have called it The Shadow(s) but then Baldwin fans would be upset.

They are upset as it is.

Well, since you can’t keep everyone happy, start with yourself and give this baby a watch and if it doesn’t unnerve the good sense out of you then you just might need to lessen the intake of mainstream Hollywood horror outings and Aunt Lin Shaye and James Wan to let the not so subtle film-making approach employed to this kaleidoscope -psycho-Taxidermy driver of a film.

Highly recommended by this pilgrim who was quite pleased with what The Evil Within had to offer, complete to the moment when it takes it all back, leaving you where Hitchcock’s Psycho, 1960 left its audiences by the end of the Classic film…

I wouldn’t hurt a fly

However, humans and animals are another story.

This sleeper hit has become such a phenomena that a sequel is now almost complete for an end of year release.

Brilliant, insane, nasty, nasty shroom trip stuff.
