My Friend Dahmer
This is the story before that story

This man has become somewhat of an obsession with me, Dahmer and Nubain. Two bad habits I picked up while doing a paper on the Cannibal of Milwaukee and getting treated for galls(a)tones.
Too much information, which is what the film does not do, relying on the source material by a childhood friend of Dahmer’s (this poor soul had friends?), sticking to it, adding where necessary and totally keeping away from what made Dahmer in to a pop culture icon.
Have we run out of kind men and women to look up to or was this man just too much of a sad story to let off easily. Or scrub off or pour acid over or bleach out, or cut that part of the skin or…
Wait a sec…
I just went more graphic than the entire 1h 47m run time of this remarkably desolate, helpless, dismal, depressing, woeful film, which is how it is because it stays loyal to the source code by Derf; a man who calls himself a friend of the wretched soul. Genuinely forlorn and hence a winner within a genre that cannot do without gallons of blood but this one did it and ex-Disney Child Actor, Ross Lynch, gives a performance that just makes you wonder and wonder until there’s nothing to wonder about.
Everyone wants to be your friend when you’re six feet under. Dahmer or Kennedy or Monroe… It’s aaalll the same in the end.
