Jason Blum wants to bring back Friday the 13th, Scream, The Crow and others!!

Jason Blum hopes to bring back Friday the 13th and also bring to us Universal Pictures’ Dark Universe. Jason Blum participated in a Twitter Q&A Thursday and took questions from horror fans who asked about Blumhouse taking on other properties like The Crow and Scream following its revival of Halloween. Blumhouse is set to go into the Dark Universe,  a connected horror universe that would act as Universal spin on Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe or Warner Bros.’ DCEU. They will start with The Mummy.

Russell Crowe is rumored as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Javier Bardem for Frankenstein’s monster and Johnny Depp as the Invisible Man. Also talks of the Bride of Frankenstein are still going on.
A twitter fan asked Ricky Barrett about the chances of “getting the rights to other big horror franchises” because of them getting Halloween and Blum said chances are “excellent.”
Blum “for sure” would try Jason Voorhees and the Friday the 13th franchise, saying he’s “tried a bunch of times to get the rights.” He’s put feelers out for The Crow and said he’s open to bringing Wes Craven’s Scream franchise back to the big screen once its TV counterpart concludes its run.
