Gruemonkey interviews Cody Renee Cameron (Barbie and Kendra Storm Area 51)!!

Hello Grue-Lings,

Today we have an amazing actress and someone making a name in the horror world. Her name is Cody Renee Cameron.

Cody Renee Cameron is a delicious cocktail comprised of Kaitlin Olson and Julia Garner, sprinkled with Farrah Fawcett, then shaken and poured into a chilled glass of Pamela Anderson in Barb Wire. She’s Midwest sweet and LA chic. Cody made her big screen debut playing the corpse in the disturbing necromancy scene with Jena Malone in the cult classic The Neon Demon directed by Nicolas Refn. After a series of roles where she ends up murdered, her friends graciously nicknamed her the “best damn dead girl in Hollywood.” She is best known for her role in El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie where she worked along side Aaron Paul. Cody is not afraid to wield a microphone on stage at the Comedy Store or a .22 on the gun range with the stunt team.

She works a lot with Full Moon Features and has been in some great horror films including: Ravenwolf Towers, Devil’s Junction, Girls Guns and Blood, Verotika, Weedjies: Halloweed Night, Corona Zombies, Barbie and Kendra Save the Tiger King, Barbie and Kendra Storm Area 51, Hex, Death Camp, Waking Up Dead, Psycho A Go Go and many more. She is also a former Playboy Bunny.

First they fought the Corona Zombies. Then, they Saved the Tiger King (starring Leslie Jordan from “Will & Grace” and John Reinke from “The Tiger King”). Now sexy LA airheads, Barbie (Cody Renee Cameron) and Kendra (Robin Sydney) bring their ditsy brand of quarantine quirk on an adventure that’s truly out of this world! Get ready for a heady dose of pandemic panic as the dynamic duo turn on the TV and get tuned into a viral saga that takes them deep into the forbidden fortress of Area 51 and beyond!

Here is our interview with Cody Renee Cameron:

GRUEMONKEY: Hello Cody and welcome to Gruemonkey. We are very excited to have you as a guest today. I want to start out by asking you your top 8 favorite horror films?

CODY: Is it wrong to just choose all the ones I’m in?! (Laughs). Ok so I never really watched horror films before I started working on them. This sounds hoaky but I feel things super deeply and so I get truly terrified watching scary movies and have night terrors. BUT that being said…here is a sort of list. Don’t Judge me!

  1. Tremors
  2. The Lost Boys
  3. The Neon Demon
  4. Interview with a Vampire
  5. Tales from The Crypt
  6. John Carpenter’s The Thing
  7. 28 days later
  8. Shaun of the Dead

.

.

GRUEMONKEY: Amazing choices! Wanted to ask about your experience with Playboy and if you got to meet and hang with Hugh Hefner at all?

CODY: Yes! I represented the University of Illinois in Playboy’s Student Bodies magazine and was also featured in 3 other issues. I attended a lot of parties and events at the Playboy Mansion and was lucky enough to meet Hugh Hefner on a couple occasions! Unfortunately, by the time I got to meet him he seemed very tired and there were always a ton of people around. I adore Hef. He is such an icon! He fought for women’s suffrage and women’s right to be in the workplace. Playboy has always been a symbol of female empowerment to me. And what could be sexier than a woman in her power!?

Barbie & Kendra Storm Area 51 | Film Threat

.

GRUEMONKEY: I agree with Playboy being female empowerment. How did you get involved with Charles Band and working with Full Moon Films?

CODY: I auditioned for a series he did called Ravenwolf Towers. I played “Naked Woman.” Man, do I love my promotion to “Barbie!” (Laughs). Charlie is great! He’s such an innovative, energetic, brilliant man and it’s been an honor to work with him on 5 projects together thus far!

.

.

GRUEMONKEY: 5 Projects is a lot and many more to come. Let’s talk about Barbie and Kendra Storm Area 51. Can you tell us what the film is about and your character of Barbie?

CODY: Barbie and Kendra are like the love children of Bill and Ted and Romy and Michelle. They’re constantly getting into crazy adventures and this is their next tale. I don’t want to give too much away, but as I’m sure you can guess, it involves aliens!

Full Moon's Coronaverse will expand with Barbie & Kendra Storm Area 51

.

GRUEMONKEY: I love it!! How was it like working with Robin Sydney again and becoming the great duo of Barbie and Kendra again?

CODY: Robin is fantastic. She’s got this great energy and she’s a ball of fun. She certainly isn’t afraid to be a little out of this world!

.

.

.

GRUEMONKEY: Any funny or cool behind the scenes stories you can share with us that happened on set from Barbie and Kendra Storm Area 51?

CODY: We definitely have some super cool costume changes I’m excited for y’all to see! There may or may not be foil hats!

Exclusive trailer: Barbie & Kendra Storm Area 51

.

GRUEMONKEY: Foil Hats, YES!! I really believe there are Aliens and unexplained stuff hidden at Area 51. What are your thoughts about Area 51?

CODY: Duuuuude totally! The universe is way too big for it to be just us! And I’m pretty sure you can drive out to area 51 and like see that it exists so like yeah! I bet they’re hiding some cool stuff in there!

.

.

.

GRUEMONKEY: I know right! What was your favorite scene or moment from Corona Zombies?

CODY: Oh man, so many to choose from! I really love the Corona Zombie busting out the pizza and coughing. Oh wait, maybe that’s in B&K Save the Tiger King…eeks hard to keep track!

Cody Renee Cameron | Film Threat

.

GRUEMONKEY: (Laughs). What was your experience like working on set with John Reinke for Saved The Tiger King film?

CODY: He was a total sweetheart. Super down to earth and not a mean bone in his body. Like, even after everything you can tell it’s hard for him to say anything negative about Joe or anyone from his past that might have harmed him. I admire that.

.

.

.

GRUEMONKEY: Death Camp sounds like an amazing horror film. What would you do to survive if you went camping and because were getting killed off one by one?

CODY: Well I can tell you what I would NOT do: take my top off. That always seems to happen to me! And then I get killed. Usually pretty gruesomely (Laughs).

Bill Moseley Features In 'Devil's Junction: Handy Dandy's Revenge' Trailer

.

GRUEMONKEY: (Laughs). Yes, keep the top on if you wanna live in a horror film, (Laughs). You worked a couple films with Bill Oberst Jr. How was it like working with him?

CODY: He was just lovely. Super talented and easy to talk to. He has an awesome reputation in the horror community, and I see why!

.

.

.

GRUEMONKEY: Tell us about Abby in Devil’s Junction and being on set with horror legend Bill Moseley?

CODY: Honestly, I wasn’t on set the day that Bill Moseley was there, sadly. The conditions on that set was interesting to say the least…. but my other costars in the film really made the experience super fun overall. We all really bonded and still have an active group chat where we trade the hot gossip 2 years later!

Who is Cody Renee Cameron dating? Cody Renee Cameron boyfriend, husband

.

GRUEMONKEY: How did it feel to be in a film Verotika based off Danzig’s comic and are you a fan of Danzig music?

CODY: Yea it was super cool! One of my producer friends hit me up to come down and play. Getting raped by a giant man spider wasn’t on my list of kinks but ya know, it wasn’t terrible. That was a really late night. I love Danzig, my dog actually has a Danzig vest that she wore to the premiere and we snapped a photo of all of us on the red carpet. That was one of the books!

.

.

.

GRUEMONKEY: I’m sure your dog rocked the Danzig vest well (Laughs). What did you like best about working on set with Traci Lords for Waking Up Dead?

CODY: Ah, alas, I was not on set the day that she was there either. With the Covid rules being so strict they try to keep the number of people on set to as few as possible and since she and I didn’t have any scenes together our paths never crossed. I’m sure she was fantastic though! I love Cry Baby.

GRUEMONKEY: Cry Baby Rocked!! Are you a fan of the Weedjies films and your thoughts on working on a weedjies film?

CODY: Weedjies was super fun to film because they took us all to Vegas and we stayed in this sick swinger’s hotel. My part mostly got cut from that movie, but I had a blast playing a sexy cowgirl and I’m pretty sure I won some money gambling on that trip. The whole cast and crew on that shoot was so dope. All the little weedjies were fantastic! The creatures from Full Moon productions never disappoint! My dog, Cheetoh, was mistaken for one while I was carrying her around!

.

.

.

GRUEMONKEY: Anything else you want to promote or discuss?

CODY: I have a ton of stuff coming out including a Rockumentary called The Get Lost Losers and a documentary I’m helping produce about female bartenders called Women Behind Bars. Follow me on Instagram for all my latest and greatest updates!

Also check out this indie grindhouse I did called Girls, Guns, and Blood! You’re welcome, Robert! (Laughs).
