Canadian genre star Ry Barrett (The Heretics, The Drownsman) leads an ensemble cast in what Horror Society calls: “…an astounding, stimulating and visually stunning piece of experimental art.”
Also starring Winny Clarke (Almost Adults, Home For Harvest), Jessica Vano (The Demolisher, Deadsight) and Raven Cousens (Defective, Late Night Double Feature), Art Of Obsession is more than just a mash up of “Misery and Fatal Attraction.” It’s a quietly introspective glimpse into the rage, frustration and sadness of giving yourself over to the arts.
Writer & director Ryan M. Andrews (Save Yourself, Sick Survive The Night) says; “I’ve done slashers and zombie films, so this time around I wanted to challenge myself as a filmmaker as well as challenge the audience…the same way I was challenged as a viewer growing up, watching David Lynch’s horrifying creations. The story is simple but the themes are rather complex. It’s definitely not the normal approach.”
With very little social media presence and a far from standard trailer, Art of Obsession has quietly stayed off the radar, but Andrews insists the obscure approach to promoting the film just matches the obscure approach he and his team went into making the whole film with.
Canadian distributors Raven Banner have released the film in Canada while ITN Distribution picked up the US and overseas rights to Art Of Obsession, which is currently available for digital release in both Canada and the USA.
