Help donate to Ed and the Living Dead starring Charles Chudabala!!

Arizona-based filmmakers Brandy Mason and Tim Fattig have started a Indiegogo to help them raise money for their new horror/comedy film Ed and the Living Dead, a violent, darkly funny zombie tale set in the summer of 1959 and featuring the “world’s worst filmmaker,” Edward D. Wood, Jr. (Plan 9 From Outer Space, Glen or Glenda).

Starring:

Starring as iconic filmmaker Edward D. Wood, Jr., is the veteran indie-horror actor and filmmaker Jason Crowe, whose resume includes Dead Moon Rising, Space Babes From Outer Space, The Bad Man, Hooker With A Hacksaw, Don’t F___ in the Woods 2, and an award-winning performance in Harvest Lake.

David E. McMahon, who portrays Ed Wood’s long-suffering producer George Weiss, has amassed an impressive resume spanning several genres. Within the horror genre, he is probably best known for his strong performance in American Guinea Pig: The Song of Solomon, the viral-hit fan film Nightmare: Return to Elm Street, and Bonehill Road.

Angela Pritchett, who plays production manager Myra Tanner, is an award-winning actor, filmmaker, FX artist, and musician. She has appeared in Plan 9 and Skeleton Key 3 Part 2 from Darkstone Entertainment, Porkchop 3D, The Crawling Dead, and The Thicket, which she co-wrote and co-directed.

Vida Ghaffari (Victoria Crane) is an actor and producer comfortable with both comedy (Mind of Mencia, The Mindy Project) and horror (Holy Terror, Circus of Dread, The Summer of Massacre, Maniacal, and Dustin Ferguson’s forthcoming RoboWoman).

Maria Olsen (Morrigan Weir) is an indie-horror legend, who has accumulated more than 120 film credits in a distinguished and award-winning career. Her most notable roles have been in Rob Zombie’s The Lords of Salem, Oren Peli’s Paranormal Activity 3, Chris Columbus’ Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Starry Eyes, Killjoy’s Psycho Circus, Krampus Origins, American Horror Story: Asylum, and Meir Zarchi’s forthcoming I Spit On Your Grave: Deja Vu.

Brett DeJager (Howard Phillips) is a genre-favorite filmmaker whose darkly humorous films include The Legend of Cooley Moon, Bonejangles (and a planned sequel), and Cryptids, and the forthcoming Tis the Season of the Witch. He also wrote and directed one of the stories in the acclaimed horror anthology 10/31.

Julie Anne Prescott (Miss Telmig) has made a strong impact in the indie-horror world over the last few years. This accomplished actor, print model (Maxim magazine, Gothic Beauty), and stunt performer has appeared in recent horror features Meathook Massacre 4, Clown Motel: Spirits Arise, and Scarred, as well as Lloyd Kaufman’s forthcoming Shakespeare’s Sh_tstorm.

Nick Payne (Charlie Roman) has appeared in feature films such as Kickboxer: Retaliation and All Eyez on Me, and will appear in Phillip Trickey’s upcoming The Bread of Wickedness.

Allen Regimbal (Johnny Sample) is a rising talent in independent film, with credits in Brett DeJager’s Bonejangles and Cryptids, and the upcoming horror anthology For We Are Many.

Kaylee Williams (The Vamp) is one of the busiest “scream queens” working in indie horror today. She has appeared in numerous features or shorts in the horror and science-fiction genres, among them Dark Realm, The Lashman, Ahockalypse, and Mrs. Claus, as well as the upcoming horror films Death Care and Troy Escamilla’s Teacher Shortage.

Ryan Brewer (Criswell). In addition to serving as director of photography for Ed and the Living Dead, Ryan Brewer will also portray one of the most high-profile (and memorable) figures in the Ed Wood inner circle, the psychic and serial Tonight Show guest Criswell!

Mindy Gilkerson (Susan Carpenter) is a prolific Nevada-based actor, who has appeared in a variety of films in a variety of genres, including the horror films The Second Coming and Meathook Massacre 4, the thriller Amygdala Warrior, and Rolfe Kanefsky’s upcoming horror feature Art of the Dead.

From the Press Release:

Every horror fan remembers their first encounter with the film classics: the Universal creatures, the monster-fighting luchadores, Sir Christopher Lee’s Dracula, and…Plan 9 From Outer Space. And every horror fan remembers finding out about the motley crew behind that film: TV horror hosts, WWII veterans, professional wrestlers, stand-up comics, and the back-lot hangers-on of 1950s Hollywood. Film critics call those people hacks; horror fans call them proud ancestors.

Ed and the Living Dead is a horror feature that finds fresh cemetery ground to break in the well-worn zombie sub-genre, and pays tribute to the under-funded and disorganized heroes of early independent cinema in the United States. We’re not sugar-coating who these people were (Tim Burton, lookin’ at you), nor are we making them the punchline. We’re simply portraying the hard work and creative processes, and hitherto-unrecognized mad zombie-fighting skills, of Ed Wood, Criswell, and the rest.
