GET OUT:

I watched it three times in theaters and it truly blew my mind. Peele tackles a tough subject with symbolism, humor, and unpredictability in its entirety, its pure bliss.

YOU’RE NEXT:

This contained horror and genre mash made this one feel very fresh and fun and kept me on my toes the whole time.

.

THE DESCENT:

I am so claustrophobic and mixing that with intersectional female relationships was brilliant.

.

THE RING:

It gave me nightmares when I saw it in theaters as a kid. The Killer Dead Horse motif still makes me shiver. Also, that little boy is fucking amazing in it.

.

THE SHINING:

My favorite Kubrick film (along with clockwork orange) it is equally scary but also hopeful in a strange way. It is a beautiful commentary on life and death.

28 DAYS LATER:

Cillian Murphy and Naomie Harris give an amazing performance led by the great Danny Boyle in one of my favorite apocalyptic horror films.

IT FOLLOWS:

With little exposition(which I love) the theme of sex, death, and morality is told very creatively through this film.

STRANGER BY THE LAKE:

This French film takes place all at a lake . In a simple, Hitchcock-ian style the directors creates a multilayered thriller with minimal dialogue(also a huge fan of) and beautiful cinematography.
