.

.

.

LET THE RIGHT ONE IN:

Thomas Alfredson creates the thickest, most deliciously detailed atmospheres (Tinker , Tailor, Soldier, Spy is one of my favorite films) art direction, tension, twisted love. Amazing film.

.

.

.

WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN:

I imagine twitching off some drug. Hallucinogenic, itchy, disgusting and terrifying.

.

.

.

A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT:

BRILLIANT, feminist vampire floating down a dark alley. Disco pant wearing asshole who learns what’s what. Surprising love story. KILLER FILM!

.

.

.

THE SHINING:

No explanation needed.

.

.

.

MOTHER:

Bon Joon Ho- master story teller. I didn’t see it coming. He made a village surrounded by gorgeous landscapes full of potential horror. And yet I was rooting for the “villain.”

.

.

.

GOODNIGHT MOMMY:

Creepy identical twins, creepy plastic surgery gauze, simple, uneasy contemporary architecture. What’s NOT to be terrified of.

.

.

.

THE BABADOOK:

We feed our most terrible secrets and maybe they’ll stay in the basement.

.

.

.

MEMORIES OF A MURDER:

The details that lure you into drain pipes, past a field of tall grass where a shadowy figure slowly rises and sinks unseen. The Comic genius of ineffective but confident cops and the quiet outsider who is on the trail but juuuuuuuuust misses. Bon joon Ho and the company of actors with whom he works continue to provide nuance, pathos and damn good storytelling!

LAUREN LANE says this:

There ya go! Happy healthy social isolation. DO NOT LET THE RIGHT ONE IN!

Best,

Lauren Lane
